Irish Red and White Setters were bred to work in the field. Whether in the field or on the moors, they thrive when given purpose and encouragement. The Club supports owners and handlers in developing their dogs' natural abilities through training, experience and shared knowledge.
Generations of careful breeding have produced a versatile working dog with stamina, intelligence and a strong desire to please.
Built for the field and equally at home in the countryside, the Irish Red and White Setter retains the abilities for which the breed was originally developed.
Working activities allow the Irish Red and White Setter to use its natural instincts in a positive and enjoyable way. Scenting, quartering, pointing and working steadily with a handler all form part of the breed's heritage.
Gentle guidance and positive experiences help to develop a confident and willing companion.
Club training days provide an opportunity for owners and handlers to develop their skills in a friendly and supportive environment. Beginners are welcome and experienced members are available to offer guidance.
Training can provide a pathway towards working tests and field trials, or simply offer an enjoyable way to build a stronger partnership with your dog.
